Eat Dirt
Well it’s been a bit since Ive been able to post on here, but I’m rarley ever to grab a steady signal for the net to where I can actually log on here.
Anyway, Im over in beautiful Iraq right now, and its been rainin for a few days, so you can imagine what the country looks like now….a giant turd.
EVERYTHING is mud and there’s no use even trying to keep your barracks or your vehicles clean cuz it wont stay clean for too long. All day walkin around you hear “I got the poopy on me!” And your uniforms get all dirtied up so you pretty much just wear your dirt around for a few days before you switch uniforms. Heck, just today I had put on a BRAND NEW set of ACUS’s (the new digi-pattern…very grr baby) and we’re outside the barracks gettin our storage units placed up on blocks and such and as we’re placing down the cinder blocks someone thought it’d be a great idea to just drop one a good foot off the ground thus creating a tidal wave of poo that succesfully destroyed the brand new look of my ACU’s…I was very distraught to say the least. But it’s ok…I went a built a tiny little bridge and got over it.
Conditions: Well….common sense says they could easily be better, but they can also very easily be worse….so Im gonna say they’re mediocre at best right now and slowly improving as we build up our empire…I mean company barracks. Quarters are tight but only until the other company that we are releiving moves out which will be soon so that’s cool. The water also cuts in and out which is no good, but that just makes us that much more rugged…not that all of us are trying to be rugged or anything.
Chow Hall: I’m gonna put it this way: I’ve seen better.
PX: ….I’m not even gonna say anything. At least I won’t be spending any money here….dangit.
Oh and if anyone was trying to get my address, just send the web administrator (Chad) an email and he will be happy to hook you up…unless yer a dirty no good terrorist…in that case yer prolly gonna get some very wicked nasty hate mail….or just no reply at all. Anyway, if yer a regular reader and or you just like sending care packages n stuff…just send an email or somethin. And by no means am I trying to solicit people to send me stuff cuz thats not what this is. I dont ask people for stuff.
Oh just a quick lil tid bit….Ive been noticing lately that whenever we’re hanging around tellin stories mine always start out with “This one time, in Korea…” and my team’s gettin a bit annoyed at it. But can I help it that the Army thought that they needed me most in Korea? Not at all.
Oh and another lil tid bit. “Ya know what really grinds my gears?” Is when certain people in the Army think it makes them any better or higher than the person below them when they use the term “Cherry”. I thought it was just stupid when I first heard it in Korea, but it’s gotten to a point where it now pisses me off to hear anyone call anyone else a “cherry” whether it be for deployments or just in the Army in genereal. You can sit there and talk all you want about “traditions” but there aint nuthin but ill will in that one and Ive seen some pretty feisty arguements start from that stupid term. So how smart is it to sit there and piss someone off by constantly calling them “cherry” when they have plenty of means to retaliate with? Not smart at all. So I think that’s one little “tradition” the Army needs to do away with. And this isn’t even me I’m talkin about here. This is everyone I’ve seen that’s either used this term or has been subject to it. I think they need to work on a little more comaraderie instead of raising a bunch of knuckle dragging meatheads who are constantly stepping on those lower ranking or just those around them to get higher in the rank game. That’s where I call “bull shit”. And that’s my two cents, take em or leave em.
Happy trails to all. I’ll write when I can.

Well, this was a nice surprise so early in the AM! I’ve already secured your address from your ’site admin’ so will be writing soon (although I really hate writing)…you guys have my sympathy on the internet/email access probs. Man, I’d rather send 10 boxes than to think of what to say in one letter…but Kat is continuing to train me on this personal flaw
It really is nice to see you post and to know that you’re OK, even if you are dirty. Take care and keep them on their toes with your stories of Band Camp/Korea
Several of my favorite military bloggers are coming home soon which is great, but I will miss them. I hope you don’t mind if I follow you around now. I like to read about and support our military.
SURE FIRE!!!!!! (Ok, so you know what I’d really be yelling.) Miss ya, big guy! Good to hear from you directly. Take care and be safe and all that.
Isn’t mud supposed to be good for your skin or something?
Good to hear about what its like over there, little buddy. Although, it sounds like a true oasis. I’m thinkin about givin this place a new look. I’ll drop you a link to a rough draft I’ve been messin with.
Welcome to the fun, Lou! Glad to have you. Although, you’ll just find a bunch of drama here. SF likes to get himself between a hard place and a rock, way too often.
hey there partner, well at least you’ll be able to save some cash for when you come home and you can by a sweet lifted truck!
sounds like you need some Korea PRIDE. lol good to see a classic random observational post.
they’re the best kind! be safe, SF!
Glad to hear from you SF. I’ll send you some Tide.
GREAT to hear from you!
I will have a letter on its way to you this week! I’m going out of town today and will not have internet access for FIVE WHOLE DAYS….horrors… so if i’m not hanging out here commenting and pestering you to death, hahah, that’s why. Never fear, i will return, hahaha!
Hang in there, stay safe…we are praying for you always.
